How to Draw A Bubble Letter M. M is the 13th message of the alphabet, but that accomplished means it’s unlucky! We use it daily, and it’s fun to write about.

Also, check our Kids Coloring Pages.

Making an m sound is also fairly easy, so it’s one of the first many people will make as a child. The letter M is easy to register, but what about making a bubble letter M?

That’s what we want to learn in this guide because we will show you how to create a really fun version of this letter. We’ll also cover some fun ways to colour it and take it to the following level.

We hope you’re ready because we’re about to take the first of 7 steps to show you how to create this fun drawing!

How to Draw A Bubble Letter M

    Step 1

Writing the letter M is easy enough, but it gets harder when we try to turn it into a letter made of bubbles. We will break it down into more diminutive steps to make it effortless.

First, let’s start with the arc on the left side of the letter. To draw this, let’s draw a curved line.

Our reference image shows you what it should look like, but it’s pretty basic. Because note M has so many angles, we recommend drawing an auxiliary line.

To do this, take a pen and lightly mark a regular letter M, the size you want for this design. Then you can draw the lines from this guide around this M pencil.

When you’re ready, let’s get started with Step 2 of this guide!

    Step 2

Next, we’ll draw the left leg of the letter M. This leg extends from the top of the arc you outlined in the first step.

It will take the build of a steep and straight shape. We will make the line very curved to create the desired bubble-like effect.

After drawing, it looks like a paperclip, slightly unfolded. Try to follow the reference image we provided as closely as possible, as it may be difficult to see now. Then we can move on to step 3 to continue this design.

    Step 3

You’ll notice your bubble letter M taking shape with this next row! You’ll see where this design goes if you accept our suggestion of drawing the M with a pencil.

In this third step, we keep it nice and simple again. Now all you have to do is add a slightly curved line.

This curved line extends to and from the inner centre of the shape you drew in the first two steps. The reference image will show you where to place this row.

That’s all for this step of your bubble letter. M, so we can now tackle step 4 of the guide.

    Step 4

Step 4 is a direct continuation of the line you started in the previous step. We recommend doing this next row in two moves.

For the first stroke, carefully extend the line you drew in the last step upwards in a gentle curve. You can lift the pen off the page while we prepare for the next run.

The next start at the top of the line and then turns down another gentle slope. It will have a slight curve to the right, as shown in our reference image.

In the next step, we’ll finish the full outline of this M before adding some final details, so we’ll do that once you’re happy with how these lines look.

    Step 5

As mentioned in the previous step, this is all to get done with the outline of this letter.

This means that we will draw a lot in this step, but we will go slowly.

For this next row, start at the indentation in the middle of the M you drew in a previous step. This new line is gently lifted.

It then gradually curves at the top, creating a mirror image of the left side of the image. Continue like this until you bend over at the base.

The line meets the other line below where that ended, leaving you with a full M shape.

We’ll add more details, but you can see what the final shape will look like! If you decided to pencil the M earlier, now you can erase those lines as they aren’t needed.

The next step will add details to make this design look like a bubble, so we no longer need the guides.

With that said, let’s start with the final details!

    Step 6

Your letter M is great so far, but it looks flat on the page. This guide is about creating a bubble letter. M; we will do it with simple details.

First, we will use rounded shapes, so the light reflects off the letter. These go into the top two points of the design.

Place them elsewhere on the M if you like, but keep them on the same side to keep the light source consistent.

Finally, we’ll add some volume to the balloon with curved lines. To draw these lines, you should use a drawing tool with a finer point than the one you used.

These are applied to the edges of the M’s inner contour and help make it feel less flat and have more volume.

Once you’ve added those lines, it’s time to add some colour! However, you don’t have to move on just yet. There are other ways to finish this design.

One would be to draw some fun patterns and shapes on the letters. For example, we could cover the letter with dots or stars!

You can get creative with this, and we’ll also go over some ideas for you to try after the last step.

    Step 7

You’ve reached the final step of a slightly more complicated letter to draw, and now you’re ready to have some colouring fun!

Best of all, you can now showcase any of your favourite colours. For now, we’ll stick with the colours we used in our example, but feel free to use anything you like.

We chose a light orange colour scheme to make the drawing nice and warm. The darker the colours, the further away they are from the two points of light.

Closer to these points, we used lighter shades to create the reflective light effect. We chose these colours, but now you can choose any colours you love!

There’s no need to stick to just one colour, as you can make this M a rainbow of colours.
